Whilst PAGE strategises..
PAGE appears to have quietened down although we have not. We are studying several avenues including:
1 Finalising our memorandum as requested by the Ministry of Education;
2 Reviewing laws pertaining to PTAs; and
3 Strategising our next move.
Please bear with us.
It is disheartening to note that since the decision to switch the medium of instruction was made on 8 July 2009, there has been a marked increase in the registration of children into private schools with an international curriculum as well as migrations particularly into Australia.
PAGE hopes that the Prime Minister is aware of the brain drain that the decision has caused and which Malaysia can ill-afford.

At times we wonder what are the government priorities. We keep losing our talents to other countries. Foreign "brains" seems to have difficulties getting PR or citizenship eventhough they are married to Malaysians whereas non-professionals get PRs easily. Nett effect we lose more brains. Wake up politicians !! Do something for the future of Malaysia Sick of reading the political fights in the media everyday since the last general election Malaysia is rotting away Instead of Cintailah sungai kita, start Cintailah negara kita
Yes. Fully agree. A sound education system/policy is a foundation to bring the country closer to developed status. It seems now that status will remain a dream at least in our lifetime.
Baguslah kalau suatu masa nanti, mereka berjaya mencipta nama diperingkat antarabangsa. Walaupun mereka sudah tidak tahu bahasa yang menjadi akar budaya.
Janganlah hanya gah padahal taklah sehebat mana. Banyak yang dulu belajar dalam BI (LCE, MCE), tapi tak ke mana juga. Kalaulah dirasakan bahasa yang diguna adalah penentu segalanya.
i hope they'll listen to us.
for our children.
That is the problem with our Ministers......credibility will be an issue for them.
Ask them to put their children in the National schools lah.......if they so believe that they are doing the right thing !
Malaysia is loosing its competitiveness by the day -
blame it on our education system.
Had we continued with the education system from Tunku Abdul Rahman's time, propagating 1Malaysia would not be necessary now, as there was already a OneMalaysia (those days called "Muhibbah"(Unity)(founded by our Tunku Abdul Rahman aka Bapa Malaysia), now revised as 1Malaysia -a revival of Muhibbah).Btw, why use 1Malaysia and not "Muhibbah" if Malaysia emphasize in abolishing PPSMI with the objective to strengthen Bahasa. "Muhibbah" is our national language. So Contradicting!
After 20 years of racial polarization, it would take another 20 years to achieve de-polarization.
Now with abolishing of PPSMI, OMG, it contradicts 1Malaysia. More racial divide without PPSMI.
On one hand Govt promotes 1Malaysia but on the other hand divide 1Malaysia with abolishing of PPSMI(Chinese & Indians would no doubt go to Mandarin & Tamil schools).
More like 2Malaysia. Leadership with 2 ideologies and no clear objectives. We are very confused and loss about 1Malaysia and death of PPSMI come 2015/2012? which is which now(all confused).
Real headache for parents & schools. No wonder, Datin, parents can't help but to migrate or turn to international curriculum as we parents cannot afford to subject our children to these 'whim & fancy" education policy (maybe it would be changed again after a few years - making parents & students frustrated & students would give up studying as, just when they were about to master this, they were forced by law to master that;(make our children like guinea pigs) if i were the student now, i would also go "bingung" or "gila"(crazy)and loose interest in studies, since it is so "leceh" (troublesome).Where is Malaysia education going from here after 50 years independence? Don't know.
Best solution - Govt allow 2 options i.e.English medium & Malay medium schools - ALL HAPPY :-):-)))
In today's Star, PM's wife who is the chairperson of the Permata Pintar program says that this program for gifted kids will help stop the brain drain. Only 100 kids will be taken in per year from form 4 Wonder whether will these kids study Science and Mathematics in Engish or BM. While it is good to have the Permata Pintar, what we are asking is to continue with PPSMI for our kids who may not be so gifted tobe in this program.
Do keep up your good work. Many silent majority of parents are supporting this. I would like to suggest this in your memo to the Education Minister. Consider all schools giving students the option to study Science and Maths in English or Science and Maths in BM. The number of Science and Maths in English classes and Science and Maths in BM classes will then depend on the demand of students. Just like in Form 4 students are given the choice of selecting Science or Arts stream. Let our students choose to study Science and Maths in the language they prefer. This will be a win-win situation for all except chauvenists whose considerations can be ignored.
I hope PAGE won't give up the fight. I am counting on PAGE. I don't want my 5 year old daughter to start Std 1 studying Maths and Science in Chinese or BM. If I can afford, I will send my girl to an international school. Already sent my teenage sone to further his studies in Australia. Probably not coming back because of all our stupid policies. Save our children please.
